The Mavroudis family are the proud owners of 2000 olive trees thriving in numerous olive groves , a large proportion being from the Lianolia kerkira some of which are up to 700 years old !! a variety native to Corfu and the Ionian sea region . Under the right conditions and care ,produces an exceptional quality extra virgin olive oil , usually high in beneficial polyphenols.

Au Mavroudis Premium Extra Virgin Olive Oil is a first pressed, cold pressed medium blend olive oil made from selected olives picked in early harvest, from the Mavroudis family olive groves and processed within a few hours of the harvest at the Mavroudis family olive oil mill and later bottled and packaged by the Mavroudis family themselves. Au Mavroudis Premium Extra Virgin Olive Oil is a high polyphenol premium extra virgin olive oil produced in limited amounts, an olive oil rich in aromas, flavours and antioxidants. The levels of oleocanthal and oleacein are higher than the average values (135 and 105 mg/Kg respectively ) of the sample included in the international study performed at the University of California, Davis.
The daily consumption of 20 g of the analyzed olive oil provides 11.9 mg of hydroxytyrosol, tyrosol or their derivatives. Olive oils that contain >5 mg per 20 gr belong to the category of oils that protect the blood lipids from oxidative stress according to the Regulation 432/2012 of the European Union.
It should be noted that oleocanthal and oleacein present important biological activity and they have been related with anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, cardioprotective and neuroprotective activity.
